When Darkness Falls
Les Bird & Dave Wise| The rules of 'When Darkness Falls' are deeply embedded in good old gothic horror fiction. Inspiration for this off the wall has come from amongst others, the books of Barker, King, Lovecraft and Poe, films including 'Chainsaw Massacre', 'Dracula' and 'Hellraiser' and of course the ever popular cult TV series like 'X-Files', 'Buffy' and 'the Minsters' to name but a few diametrically opposed examples. |
| The basic premise of the game is that players begin their miserable and short existence as ordinary dudes, well near enough ordinary anyway. You can be a student, a wrestler, a cheerleader, an archaeologist….the list is endless (38 different Characters in the basic rules) . Together with other players, you must battle the forces of Evil intent which are played by the Umpire or another Player. |
| The catch is, that whilst you could be facing voracious werewolves, hungry vampyres or raving cultists, none of the Characters are actually armed with anything except of course their wits and certain skills, for example the Mechanic is pretty useful for hot wiring cars in an emergency while the Medic can help repair any wounds suffered by the team. |
| Of course we can't expect to send you into the fray with only your frail human body, so there are quite a number of items strewn about the table. Of course you won't know what they are until you reach them, it is the witching hour after all, and you may have to search for particular items, but imagine your delight when you find a fully charged chainsaw or a ready filled garlic atomiser!. |
| The Monsters are varied and weird, from your bog-standard Vampyre to the ever spinning Blade Bunny (a good argument against unlicensed genetic experimentation) . Of course there is the ever present danger of falling down a manhole, walking into a live cable or being accosted by an exotic dancer or kissagram, who could of course not be all he or she pertains to be. |

RULES UPDATES
The old editions of the updates are now included in the main rules. As a result of this they have been removed from the web site. Anybody with the a copy of the old rules will get a discount if they purchase the new rules at a show.
