DIRECTIONS

The Society

The Chesterfield Open Gaming Society opened it doors in December 1996, started by Brian Turner and Dave Wise.

The Society has an average weekly attendance of 60, but has been as high as 80.

Between 2 and 3 One day Bashes are held yearly together with the annual show.

The Society provides unique participation games which have toured around shows as diverse as Sabre, Colours and Ceasefire. Examples are Starship Troopers, Buffy/Angel, Battlepit and more recently Kelly’s Heroes. The most toured game has been various incarnations of Lord of the Rings.

Whilst not a member of the gaming club network, COGS maintains strong links with Games Workshop and both Tony Barnes and Richard Heath featured in the White Dwarf anniversary issue.

The Society became an umbrella body for the Criminal Records Bureau in 2004.
